Town Hall Meeting: Water Treatment Plant #4

WHAT: Please attend the Austin City Council's Town Hall Meeting: A Debate on Whether to Build Water Treatment Plant # 4.

WE WANT WATER
The time to act is now. Water Treatment Plant # 4 is our best course of action to build on existing conservation and reclamation strategies and to secure the future of water in Central Texas.

WHEN: 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2009. COME even if you can only stay for a portion of the meeting. ARRIVE EARLY to assure a seat.

*Meet the AYC board at Threadgill’s at 302 W Riverside Drive. Be there at 4:30pm so we can all walk over to the Palmer Events center together. Feel free to grab a drink or bite to eat before we go!

WHERE: Palmer Events Center, Exhibit Hall 2, 900 Barton Springs Road. Free parking will be available in the Palmer Events Center Parking Garage.
(Note: The location has been changed.)

WHO: The Austin Young Chamber is part of a coalition supporting the construction of this plant, and WE NEED YOU AND EVERYONE YOU CAN BRING to show support for speakers in favor of the water plant at the Town Hall Meeting!

WHY: We Want Reliability - With the aging of our existing water plants, both located on Lake Austin, Water Treatment Plant # 4 will allow for additional reliability by drawing from a second source on Lake Travis.

We Want Sustainability - Water Treatment Plant # 4 will be energy efficient and cost effective. The high elevation of the site will allow the use of gravity (unlike the current uphill pumping systems) to be used, saving electricity and up to $1.7 million per year.

We Want Responsibility - Voters approved the bonds for this plant 25 years ago. Because of today's lower construction costs, building now will save millions of taxpayer dollars.

NOTE: The moderator, Envision Central Texas Chair Jim Walker, is accepting questions for the speakers in advance. If you would like to submit questions, send your questions to this e-mail address: WTP4.townhall.questions@gmail.com.
