AUSTIN, Texas The Austin Young Chamber today announced CEO Joana Ortiz will be stepping down from her role. Ortiz’s last day on the job is June 2, 2023.

During her tenure with the Austin Young Chamber, Ortiz spearheaded the implementation of a new committee structure, hired the organization’s first programs director, introduced an inaugural job fair, and established key partnerships with KUT/X and Austin PBS. Ortiz’s leadership has set a strong foundation for the organization’s future, with numerous initiatives on the board’s work plan.

The Young Chamber Board of Directors has appointed Tara Levy, an experienced local nonprofit leader and strategist with more than 25 years of expertise, as interim executive director and will announce details of the search for a new organization leader in the coming months.

“We are grateful for Joana’s contributions and wish her the very best in her future endeavors,” said Board Chair Caitlin Henson. “As we embark on this new chapter, we have full confidence in our interim executive director and our dedicated board of directors to steer us towards an exciting future. Together, we will build upon the foundation Joana has laid and continue to empower young professionals in Central Texas, driving innovation, collaboration, and advocacy for the betterment of our community.”

The Austin Young Chamber represents a membership base of over 850 young professionals and a network of over 30,000 in Central Texas. The Young Chamber offers programs to support business and career growth, fosters partnerships and collaborations for regional impact, and represents the voice of young professionals in policy.
