Austin Young Chamber of Commerce Names New Executive Director

Matt Glazer brings experience, plans to create new core programs and services

After a long and exhaustive search, the Austin Young Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce Matt Glazer will be joining the organization as the new Executive Director.

“Matt has a track record of success and joins the organization prepared to expand our reach to help prepare the next generation of Austin leaders,” Board Chair Tommy Belton said. “Melanie Plummer did an impressive job as the first Executive Director. We are going to build off our established success and take the Austin Young Chamber to the next level.”

Glazer has successfully launched two separate businesses (GNI Strategies and The Glazer Group), a statewide non-?profit (Progress Texas), and been a fixture of the Austin civic and political community for a decade.

“After over 10 years in politics and media consulting, I am ready to make a pivot to help other career minded Austinites succeed. This city is changing rapidly and the Austin Young Chamber of Commerce is uniquely positioned to provide professional services to the innovators, taste makers, and future corporate, non-?profit, and civic leaders,” Glazer said.

Glazer added, “AYC has it’s finger on the pulse on the future of Austin. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that and work with this impressive board and staff to make sure our values were represented in every part of our community?”

“The choice was clear,” John King Board Vice Chair added. “Matt has a track record of fundraising, a passion for civic engagement, and a vision for new and exciting services we can provide our members. AYC is prepared to go from a value added for out members to an essential organization for young professionals in Austin. Today marks the first day towards that larger vision.”

Glazer will officially start May 1 and has already started the transition process. He is a member of AYC, the Young Men’s Business League, A Truman National Security Project Partner, Best of Austin winner, and Texas native.
