AYC Pays it Forward
Dear Austin Young Chamber Members,
With 2019 now in full swing, the Austin Young Chamber Foundation (AYCF) has been hard at work tackling our goals for the year. I’m excited to share some of our most recent achievements.
In February, we participated in the 2nd Annual AYC LEAD Summit, a full day of critical development for young professional leaders in our community. At the Summit, three community leaders were honored with the AYC ChangeMaker Award, an honor paying tribute to the extraordinary work they are doing to make our community a better place.
In support of paying it forward, a special grant from our Austin Young Chamber Foundation was given to a 501c3 of each Change Maker’s choice. We were thrilled to award $500 grants to:
- JustLeadershipUSA on behalf of AYC ChangeMaker, Lewis Conway Jr.
- Casa Marianella on behalf of AYC ChangeMaker, Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch
- NAMI Austin on behalf of AYC ChangeMaker, Karen Ranus
AYCF also hosted our first Meet, Greet and Give Mixer on Thursday, February 28th as part of the city-wide effort Amplify Austin. This yearly event is the biggest day of giving in Austin and we were proud to participate. Through the support and generosity of our members, we were able to meet our goal of raising $1,000 for the foundation in order to continue providing opportunities for Austin Young Chamber members to give back.
These funds will help the AYCF continue to focus on supporting non-profits that:
- Remove barriers to employment
- Impact individuals in the early workforce stage
- Increase employability of underserved populations
If you are working with, or know of a non-profit organization doing great work in the focus areas above, we want to hear from you! To apply for grant funding and partner opportunities, please complete our Community Grant Request Form. Inquiries are reviewed by our steering committee on a quarterly basis.
On behalf of the Austin Young Chamber Foundation, we thank you for your continued support. We hope you’ll continue along this journey with us as we model the power of collective giving and foster a young professional workforce that pays it forward.
Sincerely,
Monica Andry
