This month we’re highlighting Stacia Klim – an AYC Individual Member who made a career pivot in 2020 AND started her own business. Read more about her transition to being a REALTOR® and business owner!
Stacia is a REALTOR® with JB Goodwin and Founder/Owner of Accessible Designs Austin.
AYC: Why did you choose Austin as your market to sell homes?
Stacia: I was first drawn to the Austin area, because well, it’s the exact opposite of where I grew up – Upstate NY. The climate, the energy, the outdoor activities and lifestyle all drew me to our vibrant city. I love being in the Austin real estate market, because of the incredible diversity of locations and properties – all within the Austin city limits. From single family homes, to downtown high-rise condos, to lakeside getaways – Austin caters to a wide array of properties & lifestyles.
AYC: What made you want to leave the corporate world and go off as your own realtor?
Stacia: When COVID hit, I was very much ready for a change in careers. I had been thinking about making the jump to real estate for quite some time, and the pandemic gave me that final push I needed. I absolutely love working face-to-face with clients and finding them a home that works perfectly for them and their family!
AYC: What do you find is the biggest obstacle to overcome as a small business owner?
Stacia: Making the transition from the corporate world to one as a small business owner was not easy at first. It took me a while to find my stride with time management (aka – no longer working 9-5 Monday through Friday!) especially. Now that I’ve conquered the growing pains of starting my own business, I’ve never looked back!
