About the Austin Young Chamber of Commerce (AYC):
AYC is a 501c6 membership association founded in 2009 with nearly 600 individual members in the Central Texas area. The purpose of the Austin Young Chamber is to provide valuable and comprehensive opportunities for the development of young professionals in the Austin area. About the Member Relations Coordinator Position:
The Member Relations Coordinator works collaboratively with the Executive Director, Director of Development, Board of Directors, AYC committees and volunteers. This position is responsible for developing and managing a robust member relations program, including recruitment and retention initiatives. This is primarily an engagement position with a strong focus on creating, maintaining, and delivering quality services for members.
The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker with comfort for both the data and social aspects of the position. Passion for our community and ensuring the success of others is essential.
Objectives of Position:
- Increase engagement among members
- Develop systems and procedures to track, maintain and evaluate member data
- Increase event attendance
- Recruit and retain AYC Membership
- Run member-focused events and committees
- Strengthen Ambassador program
- Develop and run member on-boarding program
Membership Recruitment
- Implement recruitment strategies as set forth by Executive Director, Director of Development, and/or Board of Directors
- Find and attend community events as an AYC representative
- Directly follow up with AYC event attendees who are prospective members
- Develop and implement member recruitment strategies
- Conduct or facilitate 1:1 visits with prospective members
- Speak to groups of employees interested in membership
- Maintain pipeline of recruitment ideas/prospects/events
- Respond to email inquiries for prospective members
- Assist with development of marketing materials to recruit members
- Work with Executive Director to craft and implement recruitment/retention messaging
Membership Retention
- Work closely with Ambassador committee to make sure all new members are on-boarded
- Regularly check in with members to make sure they are as engaged as they want to be
- Help members phase in to an AYC committee, if desired
- Serve as the voice of the membership to staff and board
- Craft and implement membership surveys as needed
- Create and implement program for renewal outreach and communications
Membership Program Administration
- Document and refine AYC’s membership recruitment and retention protocols
- Create / implement new member orientation program
- Send new member welcome packet
- Enter all member data into CRM / update member data as needed
- Keep up with member dues payments (invoicing, updating credit card information)
- Maintain current list of Elite members and Corporate members on AYC website
- Run AYC member perks program
- Work with Director of Development to resolve data, account errors
- Advocate for opportunities to show appreciation to members and create value for membership
