About the Austin Young Chamber
The Austin Young Chamber is a 501(c)6 membership association founded in 2009 with a membership base of over 850 and a network of 30,000+ in Central Texas. Our focus is to support the Central Texas business community through initiatives and efforts designed to build and strengthen our young professional workforce. The next leader of the Young Chamber will gain great professional experience and vastly expand their network while experiencing the daily activities of a thriving Chamber for young professionals.

Role Overview
The next Austin Young Chamber Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will have the opportunity to lead and scale the organization into its next phase of growth and sustainability. This dynamic leader will work closely with the Board of Directors to implement the Young Chamber’s 3 year plan while executing day-to-day operations with a broad number of community stakeholders and business partners. This leader will also be a strong fundraiser and relationship builder.

The CEO is the community face and voice of the Board, Members and the Chamber itself and will represent the Austin Young Chamber in a positive and professional manner. This leader will be the chamber’s representative to public officials, other Central Texas chambers of commerce, and non-profit boards where Austin Young Chamber has a board seat.

The CEO of the Austin Young Chamber provides leadership, management and financial security to the Chamber in the fulfillment of its mission. The CEO reports to the Board of Directors and follows the general direction the Board provides.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of the Austin area business community and culture
  • Public speaking skills for both small and large audiences
  • Ability to develop, present, and manage an organizational budget
  • Ability to provide leadership and to exercise authority in an empowering manner
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Proven ability to conduct business development through a variety of public and private sources
  • Ability to make decisions independently as well as collaboratively

Education and Experience

  • Three (3) years of experience in a people management role preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree a plus
  • Business Development, Sales, or fundraising experience strongly preferred
  • Chamber and/or Association experience a plus

The CEO performs all duties as needed to accomplish the goals of the Chamber and all duties as assigned including but not limited to the following:

  • Constantly and consistently tell the Austin Young Chamber story to the greater Austin community
  • Represent Austin Young Chamber in both a voting and non-voting board member capacity for partner organizations
  • Develop milestones and key performance indicators for executing the organization’s strategic plan
  • Create valuable partnerships with other Austin organizations and determine ways the Austin Young Chamber can make a significant impact on the community
  • Lead the Austin Young Chamber Foundation and align philanthropic efforts with the Austin Young Chamber strategic plan
  • Direct economic development initiatives, including developing small business resources, workforce development and young professional training programs
  • Develop and implement a successful, diverse business development strategy with the development committee that emphasizes support and value from corporate sponsors, private donors, and government entities
  • Drive revenue through meeting and developing new sponsors, corporate members, and retaining current corporate member relationships
  • Expand revenue streams through mission oriented contracts, grants and other opportunities
  • Advise and coach board members on their individual fundraising and development goals, as needed
  • Work with staff, finance committee, and the board in preparing an annual budget and ensure that the organization operates within budgetary guidelines
  • Work with an outside accountant/bookkeeper and the Board treasurer to oversee the finances of the organization
  • Be responsible for all payroll and employee benefits
  • Maintain relationships with board members and with committee chairs and co-chairs
  • Under the direction of the Board of Directors, recruit, retain, and manage staff and volunteers
  • Work with the Marketing Committee to develop a plan for all future Austin Young Chamber marketing
  • Create and implement ways to measure and communicate the impact Austin Young Chamber makes with young professionals and the Austin community
  • Develop innovative ways to build the Austin Young Chamber brand

Compensation Range: $80,000 – $125,000
