July 2025 Member of the Month: Karlie Ramirez
Each month, the Austin Young Chamber will highlight a member who is doing extraordinary work to strengthen our community! Showcasing their achievements is just one way we can put a spotlight on the talented, collaborative, and community-focused workforce we have here in Central Texas.
This month we’re highlighting Karlie Ramirez from Wayside Public Schools.
Tell us about yourself!
I currently serve as the Enrollment Manager at Wayside Public Schools. Previously, I was the Director of Membership and Corporate Relations at the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. I serve on the boards of the Austin Young Chamber and Pop-Up Birthday, and I’m an active committee member for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. I also had the honor of serving as Board President of the Young Hispanic Professional Association of Austin. I’m a proud graduate of the 2019 Hispanic Austin Leadership program and the 2022 Leadership Austin Emerge cohort.
What inspired you to join the AYC Leadership Service Committee, and what impact do you hope to make?
My passion for giving back and volunteering with many non-profits around the Greater Austin Area gave for a perfect segue to be the Board Liaison for the Committee. I hope that by being on the committee we can help many organizations through organizing volunteer opportunities for our members to give back and participate in.
When you’re not working or volunteering, how do you like to spend your time in Austin?
I like to explore new food and drinks around the city with family and friends and make sure to visit small and local businesses!
What’s a cause or community issue you’re especially passionate about right now?
I am really passionate about non-profits who help the youth. I am on the board of an organization called Pop-up Birthday who celebrates birthdays for children in foster care and I am newly getting involved with other organizations that are helping the youth and their parents.
What advice would you give to someone looking to get more involved in their community?
There are many nonprofits and organizations who need volunteers and leaders, find something that interests you whether it’s on a personal level or within your profession. Don’t feel like you cannot be of help because your talents and leadership are needed somewhere!
