- What brought you to Austin and how long have you been here?
I have been in Austin for four years. I originally came to Austin in 2014 for a position as a Health and Wellness Director with the YMCA of Austin. I was in Austin for approximately one and a half years and then I moved to Houston for a year. However, I missed Austin so much that I had to come back, and I have been here since 2016! - How did you get connected to AYC?
I connected to AYC through my current job at Easton Park. My second week at Easton Park, we hosted a member mixer for AYC and that is where I learned about the organization and met some of the members. After learning about the organization, I decided to get involved. - What are you involved with in AYC AND what is your favorite part of AYC?
I am involved in both the Ambassador and the FAVE Committees. These committees embody my favorite parts of AYC. The Ambassador Committee connects AYC members, both new and continuing, to each other and engages them in AYC events. The FAVE committee celebrates the best that the Austin business community has to offer young professionals in the city. - Where can we find you brunching in Austin on any given Saturday?
I brunch more on Sundays. You can usually find me at Epicerie. - If you could have any superpower, what would it be and what would you use it for?
My superpower would be flying. I could see the world from a bird’s-eye view and never sit on I-35 again! - If you could have any celebrity live next door to you, who would it be?
This is an impossible choice. I am going to choose either Oprah Winfrey or Whoopi Goldberg. I chose them because they are two women that made the decision to be unapologetically themselves while pursuing careers in the public eye. - If you had guests visiting Austin for the weekend, where is the first place you would take them to show them a good time?
If they arrive in the afternoon, the first place we are going to is Lady Bird Lake for some paddleboarding, followed by grabbing lunch at a food truck. If they get here at night, we are starting off at Banger’s, followed by a drink or two at one of the bars on Rainey Street. - If you played hooky for a day, where would we find you and what would you be doing?
You would find me in Zilker Park or chilling in a coffee shop. - When people ask you what you do for a living, what do you tell them?
I tell people I’m a Lifestyle Director. I usually follow that statement up with the explanation that I am a community creator. I help bring together the residents of Easton Park to create their own community and then I help connect Easton Park and its residents to the greater Austin community. - What technology could you not live without?
I could not live without my phone. My last one died and I replaced it in less than two hours. - Who inspires you?
I am inspired by my family. When I was younger, I did not understand all the sacrifices they made to ensure that I had the tools I needed to be successful. Now, I can comprehend the choices that they made to get me where I am today, it humbles me. - What is your proudest accomplishment?
My proudest accomplishment has been my choice to take chances. I have lived in different cities and had completely different types of positions. I have not always been successful at each thing, but I can always say that I tried and learned from the situation. - If you couldn’t live in Austin, where would you want to live?
If I couldn’t live in Austin I would move back to my hometown, Nashville. - I want to learn how to…?
I want to learn how to play an instrument, any instrument. I grew up in a musical town and now I live in a musical town, but never learned to play or even read music. - Pick:
