Alex Villa is the Chief Operating Officer for the American Red Cross Serving Central and South Texas and has been overseeing all operating procedures for the 80-county region serving a population of 7.5 million individuals for the last three years in Austin, TX, but has served with the American Red Cross since 2010.
Alex concentrates on bringing efficiency to the sphere of humanitarian work, and with over 10 years of experience in the nonprofit world, Alex has developed a reputation for exceptional work managing both people and systems. In 2014, Alex was one of a handful of candidates selected for the American Red Cross’ Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) program in which high-preforming leaders participated in a two-year development program focused on securing the next senior leaders of the organization. Additionally, he was recognized as a Presidential Award for Excellence nominee for “Revitalizing the Brand” enhancing the Red Cross mission. In his first year as the COO for the Central and South Texas Region, Alex introduced various programs and initiatives to increase the level of employee engagement, and his efforts resulted in an 18% increase in employee-workplace satisfaction. Aside from his assigned duties, Alex serves as the Business Development Chair of the Red Cross Latino Resource Group which specializes in implementing engagement programs for Latino staff members, volunteers and clients.
Alex’s reputation extends beyond the American Red Cross, and in 2013 he was the recipient of the “Top 40 Under 40 Award” for outstanding service in the private and public sectors of Central California. In addition, Alex was also a Final Four finalist for the John C. Maxwell Transformational Leadership Award in 2018. Much of Alex’s professional efforts have focused on supporting community development with professional roles supporting local business initiatives with the City of Fresno, Regional Manager for Emergency Preparedness and Community Resiliency, and as the Regional Volunteer Services Officer dedicating much of his time developing strong relationships with community stakeholders to engage them in volunteer opportunities supporting the mission of the Red Cross.
Alex’s ability to empower and elevate those around him to find success is evident in the success found with his current team of directors, and through the opportunities allotted to him, he will continue supporting community advancements.
