John Fleckenstein

John Fleckenstein II is Vice President Portfolio Manager for Sunbelt Securities. Using his degree in Economics from The University of Texas at Austin, John helps individual clients, businesses, trusts and nonprofit groups implement financial investment strategies for growth and sustainability.

Prior to joining Sunbelt Securities, John worked for the Wells Fargo Trust Department in the Managed Disciplined Strategies Group in south Austin. As in investment manager, he became an international specialist, a member of the international fixed income strategy team, a member of the municipal income national strategy team, and lead internal account representative. In 2012, John helped service over 30,000+ accounts, implementing over 1,000+ strategies with over $17 billion in investment assets.

As a youth, John joined Cub Scouts and later Boy Scouts where he learned the importance of supporting your community in various capacities without expecting any reward in return. As the first Eagle Scout of the new millennium, John feels that it’s important to lead by example. In doing so, over the past 5 years he has volunteered with such organizations as Habitat for Humanity, coaching YMCA youth sports, Volunteer Tax Assistance Programs, Deputy Voter Registrar, Zavala Elementary and Barrington Elementary after school programs, Bastrop Fire Relief, Leadership Kerr County, Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentor, Assistant Scout Master, Austin Partners in Education, Capital Area Food Bank, It’s My Park Day, Kerrville Arts and Cultural Center, Austin Pets Alive, Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, Easter Seals, The Austin LiveStrong Challenge, Pub Crawl for Pups, CASA of Travis County, AYC’s KidStrong, Lights of Love, AYC’s Non Profit Fair, Meals on Wheels, Trash Run, WannaBe Mentor, Colorado River Alliance, Students for Liberty, and various others.

John joined AYC in 2010 where he soon connected to the Leadership Service Committee – the philanthropic arm of AYC – to assimilate with other Austinites who want to help their community by taking an active role in hands-on volunteering events. Empowered by the caring hearts and willing hands of other committee members, John continues on his course to help other people in Central Texas.
