The advancement of the science and profession of civil engineering.

The objective of ASCE YMF is the advancement of the science and profession of civil engineering in a manner consistent with the purpose of ASCE
- To cooperate with the Austin Branch of ASCE in the furtherance of the Society’s aim and activities, particularly in reference to Younger Members.
- To improve and maintain the public image of the civil engineering profession
- To provide a training ground for developing future leaders
- To foster a broader social life among its members

We aim to encourage elementary, Jr. High and Highschool students to become engineers through outreach events and scholarships. We partake on service events that benefit the general public and our community. We maintain a high volume network of civil engineer professionals with the aim to create relationships that help improve the Civil Engineering profession.

Membership Details

A YMF member is any member of ASCE Austin Branch, regardless of membership grade, who has not reached their 36th birthday. We are here to help you get plugged in to the civil engineering community and develop into a future leader of our industry. We focus our energy on discovering great ways for young engineers (and engineers that are young at heart) to grow their network and gain leadership experience.

Only enrolled members (those having paid ASCE membership dues for the current year) shall be entitled to vote, to hold office, to serve on committees, or to represent the Younger Member Forum officially.

Events, Programs, and Meetings

We hold monthly meeting where all the different activities that are taking place throughout the year are discussed. We hold several different types of events (Social, service, seminars) throughout the year as well as a an annual Golf tournament and networking social. On average we hold 4 - 6 event each semester.

Leadership Opportunities

You can be part of the Executive board, that being Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President or President.
The General board has several positions, for example Social chair, Service chair, Seminar chair, Fund raiser chair, Golf Tournament chair amongst quite a few others. and within some of these chair position we have committee positions as well.
