This Amplify Austin, join fellow YPs in making a local impact

Did you know that the Austin Young Chamber has a foundation? That’s right! AYC gives back each year through a collective impact funding model that provides grants to 501(c)3 non-profit organizations.

This model allows AYC members and supporters to make donations to the foundation, and then see their gifts turned into larger grants given to organizations that have initiatives that:

• Focus on removing barriers to employment
• Impact individuals in the early workforce stage (0-5 years)
• Increase employability of underserved populations

In addition to grant funding, organizations have the opportunity to partner with the Austin Young Chamber in the following ways:

• Receive a complimentary Corporate Membership
• Table at the annual Austin Young Chamber Non-Profit Fair
• Engage membership in a Volunteer Opportunity

The Austin Young Chamber Foundation is vital to AYC achieving its vision – for Central Texas to have the most inclusive, collaborative and community-focused workforce in the country. Over the last 12 months, the AYC Foundation has given grants to the following non-profit organizations and causes:

The Black Leaders Collective is a collaboration of Central Texas leaders representing grassroots community members, nonprofits leaders, entrepreneurs, artists, activists, educators, policymakers, and young professionals.

The BLC set up a community support fund to help house, feed and provide clean water to minority residents impacted by the recent winter storm.

This grant was made through the Hispanic Impact Fund. Con Mi MADRE is a two-generation organization that empowers young Latinas and their mothers through education and support services that increase preparedness, participation, and success in post-secondary education.

Con Mi MADRE serves 1,000+ young Latinas and their mothers every year. In 2018-2019, 76% of their students came from low- income backgrounds and ​84% will be first-generation college students. In 2019, 100% of their seniors graduated from high school.​

This grant was given at the request of the winner of the 2020 AYC Poker Tournament, Betsy Cheung. The SAFE Alliance is a merger of Austin Children’s Shelter and SafePlace, both long-standing and respected human service agencies in Austin serving the survivors of child abuse, sexual assault and exploitation, and domestic violence.

In 2020, SAFE Alliance responded to over 20,000 SAFEline contacts, provided nearly 600 exams with advocate support to sexual assault survivors, and provided virtual traning and education to over 16,000 community members.

Mobile Loaves & Fishes (MLF) is a social outreach ministry that has been empowering communities into a lifestyle of service with the homeless since 1998. With the support of more than 19,000 volunteers and over 5 million meals served, Mobile Loaves & Fishes is the largest prepared feeding program to the homeless and working poor in Austin, Texas.

MLF operates Community First! Village a 51-acre master planned development that provides affordable, permanent housing and a supportive community for men and women coming out of chronic homelessness.

In an effort to support the community during the COVID-19 pandemic, Austin Community Foundation and United Way for Greater Austin partnered to create All Together ATX. This community-led philanthropic fund provided flexible resources to nonprofit organizations working with communities who are disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 and the economic consequences of the outbreak.

The Fund raised and awarded approximately $7.7 million in funding to over 100 local nonprofits.

This program is part of the Austin College Attainment Network in collaboration with the E3 Alliance, administered by the Hispanic Scholarship Consortium. The program awarded $48,000 dollars in 2020, much of it in response to the pandemic. Funds are award to college students that are experiencing a financial emergency preventing them from continuing their current semester or enrolling in the next semester.
