AUSTIN, Texas — After almost five years leading an organization that provides programs and resources to support the largest and most diverse generation in the U.S. Labor Workforce, Alyssia Palacios-Woods has announced her departure from the Austin Young Chamber.

Palacios-Woods will take on a new role as Executive Director of Capital IDEA, a Central Texas non-profit organization dedicated to lifting working adults out of poverty and into living wage careers through education.

The Young Chamber Board of Directors is currently searching for a replacement. Palacios-Woods’ last day on the job is June 3, 2022.

“It has truly been my honor to lead such an incredible organization,” said Palacios-Woods. “Knowing firsthand the talent, commitment, and innovation of our young professionals, it’s clear that the future of Central Texas business is bright.”

The Austin Young Chamber represents a membership base of over 850 young professionals and a network of over 30,000 in Central Texas. The Young Chamber offers programs to support business and career growth, fosters partnerships and collaborations for regional impact, and represents the voice of young professionals in policy.

Palacios-Woods is most proud to have put in place programs that offer expanded support to young entrepreneurs and spearhead the first full-day conference for young professionals in Central Texas.

“Alyssia has been a phenomenal CEO for the Austin Young Chamber, and she will be greatly missed. Under her leadership, the organization has grown more than 30%, launched the premier young professional educational conference LEAD Summit, and provided over $200,000 cash & in-kind support to 22 local startups through our pitch contests Austin Fast Start, [RE]verse Pitch, and the Circular Austin Showcase. Alyssia’s impact on the Austin community and the Young Chamber will be felt for decades to come” said Adam Steele, Austin Young Chamber Board Chair.

Palacios-Woods has a background in non-profit leadership and fundraising. She started as president and CEO of the Young Chamber in October 2017.
